Cheshire Food Drive
The Cheshire Food Drive (CFD) is a non-profit organization that started 38 years ago by a group of citizens and has continued without uninterrupted since then.  The main mission of the drive is to sponsor collection of food at local supermarkets, schools, industries, and religious/civic organizations throughout the year, and provide monetary means to support the food voucher program to help those in need through the Cheshire Department of Youth and Social Services.
The Drive is always held the first weekend in November and while in the past the food collected was distributed to the surrounding towns and organizations; we have not been able to do this for several years now, due to the growing need in Cheshire.  All of the food items collected are donated to the Cheshire Community Food Pantry.  The monetary donations still support the food voucher program.  This program is designed to supplement the needs of the individuals by issuing vouchers that are redeemable at the local grocery stores (Stop & Shop and Everybody’s Market).  These are mainly used for items that the pantry may not regularly stock (such as perishable items), and can only be redeemed for such food items.
