To the Editor:

The Cheshire Human Services Committee would like to comment on the excellent job recently done by Deputy Chief, Joe Popovich, of the Cheshire Police Department, the Cheshire Fire Department and Campion Ambulance Corps during the Special Needs At Risk Awareness Day. Their presentations were well thought out, informative, interesting and enjoyable for all that attended. Special needs individuals from all over town were informed about the duties of police officers and firefighters, given safety tips, and experienced what it’s like to sit in a police car, fire truck and ambulance.

The turnout was larger than anticipated but there were plenty of police officers on hand to accommodate all of the attendees. All of the parents were very impressed with the program and the professional manner in which this event was presented.

We can’t say enough about the dedication shown by the Police and Fire Departments.  They made this program work for Cheshire families and showed impressive professionalism and care in getting the At Risk Registry up and running.

A great big thank you goes out to all who took the time to put together such a great event!
