The Adaptive Recreation programs are designed to include children and adults with special needs in developmentally appropriate recreational activities. The goal of these programs is to provide a positive and supportive learning environment where these individuals can explore new skills, foster friendships, and have opportunities to experience success. The purpose of the survey below is to give us a better understanding of the needs and interests of the children and adults with special needs in the community of Cheshire.
Checks should be made payable to "Cheshire Food Drive" - P.O. Box 926 - Cheshire CT 06410

Helping Hands
Meredith Sturges, Chairperson Town of Cheshire Human Services Committee
I am writing, again this year, on behalf of the Human Services Committee.
We would like to remind you that the need for Fuel and Food Assistance is escalating.
The Department of Youth and Social Services is reliant on donations to supplement the limited voucher allotment it receives from the Cheshire Food Bank. The Fuel Bank is totally dependent on donations. We have all been affected by the economic downturn of the past years - some of us much more than others.
We would like to challenge our fellow citizens to help our neighbors in need. The next time you go to the Grocery Store, pick up an extra can of soup, or a jar of peanut butter and jam and drop it in the Food Bank Collection Boxes you must have seen at the stores. You may think that only giving one canned good is not enough. But, if we all do it, we can make a difference.
Get together with your neighbors and purchase a Gift Card or 2 to give another family a chance at a Happy Thanksgiving. Suggest to your Service Organizations that they make a donation to the Fuel Bank.
Give a helping hand!! If we all contribute, we will make a difference!!!!!
Contributions should be turned over to the Department of Youth and Social Services
at the Cheshire Town Hall.
Monetary donations can be made to:, ”Cheshire Youth and Social Services Fuel Bank”
c/o Youth and Social Services , 84 s. Main St., Cheshire, CT 06410,
and the “Cheshire Food Drive” , at P.O. Box 926, Cheshire, CT o6410.
CHESHIRE FUEL BANK
The CHESHIRE FUEL BANK provides assistance to Cheshire residents who do not meet the financial or asset criteria of the Connecticut Energy Assistance, but who are in an emergency situation. Funds for this program are provided by donations from individuals, religious groups, and civic organizations. Due to the significant increase in the cost of home heating oil, the grant award has been increased to up to $250 per delivery. http://www.cheshirect.org/youthsocial/social.html
